The SYLK Towers Development is a phased, 3-tower high-rise residential development located in the south end of Kitchener. The first phase, Tower A, is a striking 24-storey slab tower that provides 304 residential units. This development is part of a larger 1,000+ unit project, designed to meet the growing demand for purpose-built rental units in the area.
SYLK Towers is strategically situated on King Street, with commercial/retail developments to the east and mid-rise rental apartments to the west. The development blends seamlessly with its surrounding neighbourhood while offering significant architectural appeal.
The precast concrete structure and envelope are accentuated by picture frame elements and step-back massing on both the east and west ends of the tower, creating a dynamic visual profile. The design of the building takes inspiration from the nearby Chicopee Ski Park, with the massing and colour arrangement resembling cascading snow across ski peaks—an elegant nod to the natural landscape of the region.
This development employs a total precast system provided by Stubbes Precast, ensuring efficient and timely construction. The design and construction are led by Vive Development, a premier developer of purpose-built rental properties in the K-W region. The Zehr Group is the contractor, overseeing the construction with their expertise in high-rise developments.
