GO Mimico Rail Station — Mimico, ON
GO Metrolinx retained Reinders + Law Ltd. for the redevelopment of the GO Mimico Rail Station, included the station building, site, and platforms. The goal was to create a fully accessible station that will be Certified LEED Gold and meet current standards of operation
Project Overview
The existing Mimico GO Station building was originally constructed and opened in 1967. The station sits in the midst of an established residential neighborhood. In its previous state, the station building was not accessible and could not provide the level of service mandated by GO Metrolinx.
The plan for the redevelopment of the Mimico GO Station includes:
- A new station building
- Two new tunnels with entrance structures
- Upgrades to two island platforms
- The addition of snow melting systems
- Site works for the project
The project also includes provisions for future electrification of the rail corridor. It will be tendered as a design/build project.
