We’re Reinders + Law Ltd, a multi-disciplinary consulting firm. For over 55 years we’ve provided architectural and engineering services to our clients. We design public and private community buildings, churches, schools, commercial facilities, mid-high rise residential buildings, and more. We’re well-known for our quality work and top-notch service, and most of our projects come from repeat clients and referrals. As a result of our success, we’re looking to make a growth hire in our core structural team.

Office hours are Monday-Friday from 8:00am-5:00pm, with flexibility as needed to meet project deliverables.

Architectural Designer

The Position:
* Opportunities for growth and advancement
* Must have proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD
* Experience in 3D Visualization with Lumion, or similar program, is an asset

Jr. Architectural Designer:
As our newest Architectural Designer you’ll be involved in the full-cycle design process. From initial design drawings, all the way through implementation, your work will contribute directly to the success of projects. Balancing a fine attention to detail and a collaborative spirit, your work will pave the way for our company’s success.
Beyond your technical ability to draw, model, and design, you’ll also need to be familiar with the OBC, construction materials and methods, and Municipal zoning regulations. Understanding the compliance process of each, and working within limits will make functional, elegant, and feasible conceptual designs. Using your ability to create inspiring, realistic high-resolution renderings using Revit/Lumion, you will be able to add your creative touch to exciting new and potential projects.

Practically speaking, you will:
▸ Attend preliminary meetings with our Design team to gain familiarity with project requirements
▸ Create conceptual architectural drawing packages (drafting, modeling, and detailing) using Revit, AutoCAD, and Lumion.
▸ Review municipal regulations/bylaws for compliance
▸ Gather, assess, and revise drawings for clients
▸ Travel to project site to do measurements (occasional)
▸ Assist the team in coordinating with in-house (architectural, structural, and civil) and external (mechanical, electrical, etc) disciplines
You’ll also be set up for success in this role if you are:
▸ Independent – you can work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining quality and high attention to detail. You’ll have support when needed, but you don’t need anyone to hold your hand.
▸ A strong communicator – interacting with project managers, design team across multiple projects, you can adjust your style to suit any audience, and achieve clarity in every medium.
▸ Motivated – you’re able to work independently and measure your time against critical deadlines. You are self-motivated, and don’t need someone directing your workflow.

• Experience in building design and detailing
• College diploma or university degree in architectural technology
• Strong proficiency with Revit and AutoCAD
• Familiarity with the Ontario Building Code
• Experience with architectural drafting, detailing, and 3D visualization

From initial design drawings, all the way through to implementation, your work will contribute directly to the success of projects. Balancing a fine attention to detail and a collaborative spirit, your work will pave the way for our company’s success. Beyond your technical ability in drawing, you will need to be familiar with Ontario Building Codes and regulations.

What makes you the ideal candidate?

  • 8-10 years of experience as an Architectural Technologist or Intern Architect
  • Strong proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, but also within a team environment
