The Brant/85 Morrell Street — Brantford, ON
King and Benton Developments retained Reinders + Law Ltd. for an infill and adaptive reuse project in the Brantford community. The objective was to transform the old Harding carpet factory on 85 Morrell Street into a modern condo building.
Project Overview
For this project, it was important to integrate the look of the development into the older, surrounding neighbourhood. Thanks to the hard work of our team, local councillors agreed on a unanimous declaration in favour of the development during the rezoning application. Construction started in November 2016.
The Brant development features 112 units with one and two bedroom options. The residential units will be constructed within the existing building shell.
The development will include several alterations to update the look of the building. Portions of the existing structure will be demolished to provide parking on the east and west sides of the complex, with a central portion removed to offer a main entry courtyard. Additional sections of exterior walls will be adapted into new, recessed patio spaces, transforming the box shape of the old industrial building into an interested façade along Holme Street.
